    وطلبت الجمعية العامة، في دورتها الثالثة والستين، إلى منسق الإغاثة في حالات الطوارئ مواصلة جهوده الرامية إلى تعزيز تنسيق المساعدة الإنسانية؛ وأهابت ‎بمؤسسات منظومة الأمم المتحدة المعنية تحسين الاستجابة الإنسانية في حالات الكوارث الطبيعية وتلك التي من صنع الإنسان والطوارئ المعقدة؛ وقررت اعتبار يوم 19 آب/أغسطس اليوم العالمي للعمل الإنساني؛ وطلبت إلى الأمين العام أن يقدم إلى الجمعية العامة، في دورتها الرابعة والستين، عن طريق المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ‏في دورته الموضوعية لعام 2009، تقريرا عن التقدم المحرز في تعزيز تنسيق المساعدة الإنسانية التي تقدمها الأمم المتحدة في حالات ‏‏الطوارئ، وأن يقدم إلى الجمعية العامة تقريرا عن تفاصيل استخدام الصندوق المركزي ‏لمواجهة الطوارئ (القرار 63/139).
